Truan Equipment Company to sponsor
#66 NASCAR Cup Series entry at Charlotte Motor Speedway

STATESVILLE, N.C. (May 23, 2024) – Motorsports Business Management (MBM Motorsports) and Power Source have tabbed B.J. McLeod to pilot the #66 Truan Equipment Company Ford Mustang Dark Horse in the NASCAR Cup Series Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

McLeod, a veteran of more than 350 NASCAR national series starts, will drive the #66 entry in place of previously announced driver David Starr, who became unavailable with a schedule conflict during the Memorial Day weekend race. Starr will be working back home, having just sold a big event for his Team Texas driving school at Texas Motor Speedway.

MBM Motorsports team owner Carl Long is pleased to have a series veteran get behind the wheel for the longest-distance premier series race on the 2024 schedule.

“B.J. has two years of full-time experience with the NextGen car. He will be helping us with the learning curve of our program,” said Long.

McLeod has made six previous Coca-Cola 600 starts and drove to a Top 20 finish in the 2022 edition of the race.

“I’m thankful for the opportunity to be at the track this weekend in the #66 Truan Equipment Company Ford Mustang. I look forward to not only getting back behind the wheel, but also to help MBM’s program as they continue to learn and grow,” said McLeod.

The #66 entry will carry primary sponsorship from Truan Equipment. Based in Knoxville, Tennessee, Truan Equipment sells and rents several types of low-hour construction equipment and a diverse array of attachments to help get your job done. Discounts are always available to veterans, active military, law enforcement, and first responders.

Racing on Memorial Day weekend also brings with it an opportunity for remembrance. The name of Marine Sgt. Bradley Atwell, assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 13, will ride on our windshield banner. Atwell tragically lost his life on September 14, 2012, when fifteen Taliban, armed with automatic rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, and suicide vests, snuck onto Camp Bastion in Afghanistan at 10 pm the previous night. His heroic actions delayed the enemy assault and allowed time for his fellow Marines to coordinate a counterattack. Atwell, an aviation electrician, had a passion for firearms, enjoyed off-roading in his truck, and always made the people around him laugh. He was 27.

Coca-Cola 600 practice and qualifying commence late Saturday afternoon May 25th, beginning at 5 pm ET on FOX Sports 1. Tune in for race coverage on network FOX at 6 pm ET on Sunday, May 26th.
